Ok... since this blog is dedicated to my girl... shall blog about her latest development today :)

I am continually amazed at how fast kids learn at this age. Ariel never fails to surprise me with the things she know!

For the past 2 weeks also, I learnt about the http://www.starfall.com/ website, and was really excited about it! It's really wonderful that there's such a website that teaches phonics and it's free! We have been showing Ariel ABCs from the website consistently, and am amazed at how much she has picked up!

Letters of the alphabet that Ariel knows at 14 months:A, B, C, D, J, L, P, S.
Although she can't really say the alphabets as they are, she can say them in terms of phonics, meaning:
'A' - ah
'B' - ber
'D' - de

She also knows that 'C' is for cat from the website. So, instead of saying 'C', she says 'dat'... but today, i noticed that she starts to learn making the 'ker' sound of 'C' when saying Cat.

Never underestimate the minds of the little ones. Initially I was worried that she might not be able to make the connection between the letters she sees on the website, and that on her play mat. But surprisingly, she can. Whenever she sees a letter, she would actually turn to her play mat to look for it.

Whoever says learning is stressful for the little ones... for me, I think it's all up to the attitude of the adults and how we bring learning across to our kids.
