Art and Crafts

Upon some suggestions from one of the mommie @ The Asian Parents forum, I've decided to make some art and craft materials for 17 month-old Ariel. She doesn't quite appreciate the playdoh yet, but was quite delighted about the finger paints. Below are the 2 fun recipes for the entire family :PP

1. Finger Paint

1/2 cup cornflour
2 tblsp white sugar
2 cups cold water
food colouring

combine all ingredients in sauce pan
stir constantly over low med heat until mixture boils and thickens then allow it to cool
pour into little containers and add a variety of edible food colouring...

2. Homemade Playdoh

2+ cups of white flour (non self-rising)
1/2 cup table salt (iodized or plain)
1 cup hot tap water
1 teaspoon of cooking oil (optional - makes dough more pliable)

In large bowl, mix flour and salt. Slowly mix in water (and oil) while stirring. When stirring gets difficult, use your hand to knead in the bowl. When you get all the flour off the sides of the bowl and have one neat dough ball, dump it out and continue kneading until desired consistency.

For colouring the dough, simply add edible food colouring to the water before mixing in.
