Cooking Tips for Babies & Toddlers

I love cooking, and since Ariel was born, found that I've actually gained more knowledge on cooking and food nutrients from cooking for her. Here's what I've learnt:

1. Always serve vegetable rich in Vitamin C with food high in iron to increase iron absorption.

2. Calcium bind iron, so avoid serving foods high in calcium and iron together.

3. To remove the fishiness of steam fish, can steam fish with celery, tomatoes and some ginger. Celery is a natural ingredient for removing fishy smell.

4. To remove the beefy smell from beef, add onion and ginger.

5. To reduce the heatiness of beef, can add some barley when cooking beef stock.

6. To reduce heatiness of brown rice, can add barley as well.

7. Broccoli and Cheese goes great together.

8. After 1, honey can be used as sweetener for sour fruits.

9. Avocadoes taste great, blended with milk. Avocadoes makes a great sandwich spread too.

10. Hard-boiled egg yolks can serve the same purpose as cheese in pasta salads, if cheese is too heaty.

11. Add a small slice of garlic while steaming rice to create a fragrant garlic rice.
