Change

November 4, 2008 is a historical day for many Americans because this is the day whereby an Afro-American is elected as President of the United States.

Although many would think the U.S. is one of the most liberal countries in the world, i was rather amazed to see that there are still many conservatives amongst the American when I first arrived here. The very fact that there were laws prohibiting racism goes to show that there is still some degree of racism here.

But yesterday, the American voters have cast racism aside as Barack Obama was elected as President of the U.S. It was really a very touching moment for many people. It really goes to show how racism no longer affects politics and the American voters have chosen the best man for the job.

Whether there will be real Change or not, it's too early to tell. But I would think that the very fact that there's gonna be a Afro-American's photo in the photo archives is already a Change by itself. This is a great boost of confidence for the many Afro-American youths and hope that there will be better days ahead.
